FLX Pop-Up Picnics, a premier luxury picnic business located in Canandaigua, celebrated its business debut this past Saturday, April 23, on National Picnic Day. A ribbon-cutting and picnic event was hosted at Granger Homestead with close to 30 community members. Four seasonal picnic packages and a Promposal package were featured. FLX Pop-Up Picnics provides a hassle-free, entertaining, and luxury picnic experience that brings friends and family together in the Finger Lakes to create lifelong memories.
Picnicpreneur and owner, Megan Carlson, thought of the business when traveling to see family in Virginia. She and her sisters wanted to “do something different besides just grabbing lunch and shopping” – something fun where they could relax and chat, without the hassle of trying to plan a get-together. That’s when she found a luxury picnic experience advertised under “things to do” in the area and booked an 8-person picnic. She thought, “What a great and creative idea – I would love to do something like this.” So, she did. After her experience, she researched the market and decided to open her own luxury picnic business in the Finger Lakes.
While the pandemic has been limiting is so many ways, people have found more creative ways to get together with friends and many have turned those ideas into entrepreneurial ventures. Prior to starting FLX Pop-Up Picnics, Carlson, and several other friends created special-occasion outings using different themes which is where some of her business themes stemmed from. Taryn Dobbs, one of Carlson’s friends and guests at today’s event shared, “Megan has always been super creative and loves putting together fun ideas like this, so this business is perfectly suited for her.” This season’s packaged themes are: Denim & Diamonds, Roses and Rosés, MacKenzie-Childs Inspired, and Boho Chic.
