Finger Lakes Food Tours (FLFT) of Canandaigua is going international! “The Ireland Sequel” is a customized vacation for fellow foodies to eat, explore and enjoy Ireland (September 14- 22, 2019). FLFT owner Suzanne Wright will escort and host this intimate group tour, limited to 15 travelers hungry for adventure.
“Whitaker & DePrez Travel Partners (WDTP) are very proud to be partnering with Finger Lakes Food Tours for this September adventure on the Emerald Isle,” says Laura Daniels, a travel advisor with the Rochester-based company. “Suzanne will be bringing her knowledge, expertise, reputation and charm to this tour.” The package is offered under the umbrella of the venerable CIE Tours International.
Even though this is the first collaboration of FLFT and WDTP Daniels notes that the “sequel” descriptor for the tour was intentionally chosen to forecast more international foodie destinations – or sequels – to come.
Food tours are a growing culinary tourism trend. These professionally guided excursions feature a circuit of tasting stops curated to showcase delicious, locally sourced fare. Narratives along the way also provide cultural insight, historical perspective and a sense of place. Wright, who launched Finger Lakes Food Tours in 2015, offers a popular guided walking and tasting tour of several Canandaigua restaurants and specialty shops.
“The Ireland Sequel” tour includes 4 star hotel accommodations in Dublin, Ballycotton, Tralee and Limerick. The itinerary is a recipe of foodie-based activities such as a hands-on cooking class at Cooks Academy in Dublin and cheese tasting along the Burren Food Trail mixed with traditional sightseeing of historical sites such as Blarney Castle and iconic Irish vistas–including the Ring of Kerry and Cliffs of Mohrer. Sprinkled in: afternoon tea, chocolate making, whisky tasting, an artisanal market visit and more.
“Every detail of this excursion has been crafted for the ardent foodie and traveler in mind by spotlighting the warmth, generosity and traditions of this distinctive destination,” says Wright.
Reservation deadline is January 7, 2019.
