Christmas has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the fun is done. With a week before New Year’s, the magic of the holidays that lingers in the air, and post-Christmas shopping deals, there are still good times to be had before it’s back to life as normal.
Blast off Break Week – Now through January 21, 2019, the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester is hosting a ‘Be the Astronaut’ exhibit to entice visitors to find out all the science and math skills needed to make it on the moon. In addition, Blast off Break Week is also going on until December 31 with additional exhibits and crafts to keep minds stimulated while on winter vacation. Visit museumofplay.org for an out-of-this-world opportunity.
Sunday Meditation – Wind down between the flurry of holiday activities with a meditation session at Rasa Spa, located in the Cayuga Wellness Center in Ithaca. Join Surinder Sidhu on December 30, from 10:30-11:30am, for a guided meditation to calm and relax post-holiday stress. Class is only $5, add an additional $5 for a day pass to enjoy the tranquility room and sauna as well. A recurring event, really treat yourself by signing on for the month of January. For more information, visit rasaspa.com..
New Year’s Eve Party – Hit the slopes on New Year’s Eve at Bristol Mountain in Canandaigua with discounted admission and rental prices – the mountain will be open until 10pm. When you need a break from skiing, the Rocket Lodge will be presenting entertainment and activities from 7-10pm. After the slopes close, there will be fireworks and the annual torchlight parade. Check out bristolmountain.com for more information.
Post-Christmas Shopping Deals – I make it a point to avoid going out on Black Friday, however, post-Christmas deals are more my speed. If you’re like me and have some left-over holiday money in your pocket itching to be spent on a few items you didn’t receive off your wish list, the Eastview Mall in Victor is open on New Year’s Day, 2019. With over 30 stores, plus restaurants and the cinema, there is something for everyone. For more information, visit eastviewmall.com..
The flurry of shopping for everyone on your list is finally over, and hopefully you had a day well spent with family and friends. The holiday season isn’t quite over here in the Finger Lakes Region though and there is fun to be had between now and the commencement of 2019.
