Image City Photography Gallery is proud to present the 16th Annual 2025 Through the Student Lens exhibit, showcasing the creative vision of young photographers from Monroe County and surrounding areas.  This year’s exhibition features 244 stunning images captured by students from 24 participating schools, reflecting a wide array of perspectives, themes and photographic techniques.

This annual event provides an opportunity for high school students to display their work in a professional gallery setting, fostering confidence and appreciation for the photographic arts.  Each image represents the unique vision of its creator, offering glimpses into personal experiences, artistic experimentation, and thoughtful storytelling.  Visitors can expect to see a variety of subjects including portraits, landscapes, abstracts, documentary and conceptual style imagery.

There will be three receptions allowing students, families, educators and community members to gather and celebrate the young photographers.  Select students will be recognized for their work with awards highlighting creativity, composition and technical excellence. The awards are provided by Image City, James White Empire Realty Group and WROC-TV.

Through the Student Lens provides young photographers with real-world exposure to the fine art community.  Many students gain inspiration and encouragement from this exhibit, with some continuing their artistic journey into college and professional careers.  The exhibit serves as a testament to the dedication of local educators who nurture and guide these aspiring photographers.

WROC-TV has signed on as media sponsor and will feature a digital gallery of photographs on RochesterFirst.com. From March 18th thru March 31st, the public can vote for their favorite photo which will determine the #1 “Image Innovator” for 2025. The winner will be announced at Image City on Friday, April 4 at 6:00 pm.

Join us in celebrating the future of photography and supporting these talented young artists as they share their creative visions with the community.
