Indigo Stitched Shibori Workshop with instructor Mary Ann Proia
Shibori is the Japanese form of dyeing using string and resist. Shibori textiles most often use indigo as the traditional dye. Students will learn 2 types of Nui shibori stitches at the first class: Mokumenui and Awesenui; the second class covers ways to dye, one using an indigo vat.
September 16 & September 23 from 10:00-12:00 pm
West Lake Schoolhouse on the corner of West Lake Drive and Butler Road in Canandaigua. On-site parking. Weather permitting, part of the class will be outside.
Class is $50, plus $15 materials fee payable to the instructor. Students are asked to bring note taking materials and a sewing thimble.
Requirements: basic knowledge of hand stitching helpful; ages 14 and up. Maximum of 8 students.

The work of instructor Mary Ann Proia, has been displayed worldwide, and she taught weaving in Antigua with Partners of the Americas, and has received the HGA certificate of Excellence in Dying.
