Homeschool Art Program Session 4: Fun with Fiber Arts with Diane Stratton-Smith

Date:  February 3, 2026

 Time:  1:00 pm – 2:30 pm

Session 4: Fun with Fiber Arts with Diane Stratton-Smith
Tuesdays, January 6, 13, 27 & February 3, 10

This session will cover multiple aspects of the Fiber Arts including materials, techniques, artistic expression, and transition between 2D and 3D creation. Students will be introduced to on and off-loom weaving , card and band weaving, macrame, felting and silk painting. We will also cover the rich cultural and historical facets of one of the oldest arts in the world.

What’s new at the Arts Center? We are excited to announce that we are starting the Homeschool Art Program on Tuesday, September 2nd! With a generous grant from the Lisk Morris Foundation, we are able to provide weekly art classes to our local homeschool students ages 10-17 for the 2025/2026 school year.

We are lucky to have two phenomenal art teachers who will be joining us in making HAP a success. Diane Stratton-Smith is an Art Therapy professor at Nazareth College, and has taught several art classes here at ACYC. Gracy Getz is a local artist with a strong background in the Arts, and taught for 3 years at Emmanuel Baptist Academy in Penn Yan on a volunteer basis.

Gracy and Diane have worked together to formulate the topics for each session so that students are able to explore different mediums, strengthen their art skills, and have fun with their peers while they learn.

This program is currently available for students from ages 10-17. Classes will be held at the Arts Center on Tuesdays from 1:00-2:30pm. You can sign up for one session or multiple sessions. Enrollment is first come first served, and students will attend all five classes in each session (no partial payments).

Classes will be taught in 5-week sessions, with 7 sessions in total. If you would like to learn more about this program, or to enroll a student, please reach out to our Workshops Coordinator, Irene Worth, at workshopsacyc@gmail.com.

The cost for each session is $50/student ($10/class). Families who enroll more than one student in a session or enroll one student in multiple sessions will pay $35/student/session ($7/class). All supplies are included in the cost of each session.
