There is no question that the novel coronavirus is impacting small businesses in our communities. That’s why Life in the Finger Lakes will be posting announcements from its advertisers about services they have available, their hours and contact information.
A simple gesture of ordering take-out, buying a gift certificate or placing an order on their website is a way each one of us can show our support.
After all, we’re in this together.

The Summer House Gift Shoppe
The Summer House Gift Shoppe is temporarily closed to foot traffic. But you can easily shop on Facebook. I will be posting current photos and as always I will be restocking daily with lots of spring favorites. Along with new photos I post, I would highly suggest looking through some of my past posts because there are many items that are still available … I normally open the shop weekends but during this time of “essential business only and social distancing,” I am now open seven days a week online only. If you see something you might want please feel free to ask questions via messenger or email. I can send invoices via Square and e-mail and arrange for curbside pick-up or holds if the item is paid for ahead of time, along with possibly shipping if you choose to pay the shipping cost. Please send a message instead of asking in a comment as I do not always see the comments on each picture.

Corning Museum of Glass
One Museum Way
Corning, NY 14830
800-732-6845 or 607-937-5371
With The Corning Museum of Glass closed at the moment, and so many people spending lots of time at home, we want to make everyone aware of ways to stay engaged with us online. Here’s information on the museum’s digital offerings. Our popular, award-winning YouTube channel has hundreds of hours of glassmaking content. Glassmaking is a mesmerizing, soothing process to watch. We often hear that people will seek out content on our channel to play as they are settling down for bed at night. In times of stress and uncertainty, we all need a little escapism, even if it’s as simple as watching an artist make beautiful glass. We have curated lists of live stream demos of past Guest Artists who have created exciting things in our Amphitheater Hot Shop. People can take a virtual tour of our galleries through Google Arts & Culture, and we even have a Pinterest board of “Color our Collections” offerings for families. And, of course, if people haven’t watched already, they can see us on Netflix’s Blown Away—then check out our 20+ related behind-the-scenes videos on YouTube! Read this blog for more information.
