UPDATE on Rochester Contemporary Art Center’s 6×6

03/26/2020

Rochester Contemporary Art Center’s Executive Director Bleu Cease announced an updated message regarding its iconic, upcoming 6x6 fundraising exhibit. “We may have to make some changes, but 6x6 is proceeding,” he said. “We’re hoping people will use 6x6 as a fun, creative, and positive activity together (but separately) during this difficult time. The Coronavirus health crisis is dramatically impacting all aspects of daily life. Hopefully, 6x6 will give people a creative outlet while they are at home.”

As RoCo is currently closed due to COVID-19, all entries should be sent via the United States Post Office to RoCo at 137 East Avenue, Rochester, NY 14604. The art center receives mail even when closed. Entries should be postmarked by April 10, accompanied by a short entry form that can be downloaded here: roco6x6.org/6x6x2020_entryform.pdf.

RoCo is thrilled with the success of the recent community “6x6 Make Art Day on March 6, meeting its audacious goal of 1,000 artworks. Cease notes that RoCo was able to jumpstart this year’s 6x6 entries thanks to the more than 45 community venues hosting a public “Make Art Day,” including private businesses who used it as a team-building activity, and many, many families.

Complete 6x6 information is available at rochestercontemporary.org. There is no fee to enter.

Now in its 13th year, RoCo’s iconic 6x6 exhibition brings together thousands of original artworks, made and donated by celebrities, international and local artists, designers, youth and  community individuals. Each artist may enter up to three artworks of any medium (2D or 3D) except glitter. Artworks must be six inches square and signed only on the back, to be exhibited anonymously. All artworks will be exhibited and for sale to the public for $20 each to benefit RoCo. Artists’ names are revealed to the buyer upon purchase, and all artworks remain on display throughout the exhibition, June 6 - July 12, 2020.
