The Finger Lakes Chamber Ensemble (FLCE) continues its 2022-23 Season with two exciting and diverse chamber concerts on both March 12 and May 14. Both performances take place at 4 p.m. at the First Unitarian Society in Ithaca.
The March 12 program celebrates Women’s History Month with three works by women composers: Clara Schumann’s Three Romances, Op. 22 for violin and piano, Suenos de Chambi: Snapshots for an Andean Album, by award-winning composer Gabriela Lena Frank, and the world premiere of Snow Kim’s Monologue for Solo Viola. The program finishes with the ebullient Piano Quartet in E Flat, Op. 47 by Robert Schumann. Performing on this program are Janet Sung, violin; Roberta Crawford, viola; Heidi Hoffman, cello; Molly Morkowski, piano; and Barry Crawford, flute.
This year, the FLCE resumes its annual Mother’s Day Concert on Sunday, May 14. The program will open with Madeline Dring’s Trio for Flute, Violin and Piano and also will also feature Mozart’s ever-popular Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K. 581. The performance will conclude with the powerful, epic Piano Quintet in F Minor, Op.34 by Johannes Brahms. The following artists will appear on this program: Janet Sung and Jessica Tong, violins; Artistic Director: Roberta Crawford, viola; Stefan Reuss, cello; Barry Crawford, flute; and Richard MacDowell, clarinet.
