NYC-based Jazz group Mark Adams and Jazzical takes the stage at Supernatural Lake this weekend
New York City-based jazz group Mark Adams and Jazzical will be performing at Supernatural Lake, a new wine bar located in Interlaken, NY, this weekend. This group is part of the Smith Center for the Arts performance series at Supernatural Lake, held outdoors in a COVID-compliant atmosphere, on the shores of Cayuga Lake. Show times are Friday, August 14 at 6:30pm and 8:15pm, and Saturday, August 15 at 6:30pm and 8:15pm. All tickets are $25 plus additional fees and can be purchased at www.thesmith.org.
Jazz musician Mark Adams has been proving to be the premiere jazz pianist of his generation. This Baltimore native, son of professional musicians, and world class Jazz and Soul pianist began his music training at five years old. His late father, the renowned Broadway classical woodwind player Kenneth Adams, inspired him to study classical music and jazz at the Greenwich Village School of Music and to consider a career as a pianist.
Adams is a composer and musical director and regularly performs throughout the U.S., Cuba, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Nigeria, South Africa, Turkey, Japan and China with jazz legend and mentor Roy Ayers (whom he calls his surrogate father). He has toured with many other renowned artists including Ron Carter, Ronnie Laws, Hugh Masekela, and the late Lou Rawls. He has performed with many R&B artists including Erika Badu, Mary J. Blige, and Queen Latifa. Adams also debuted on Broadway in the musical ‘Five Guys Named Moe’ and ‘The Color Purple’ and in numerous off-Broadway productions, including in Frankfort, Germany.
Mark Adams and Jazzical also includes the talents of musicians Donald Nicks, Derrick Barker, and George Gray.
These performances will be held outside at Supernatural Lake, which is located at 7930 County Route 153 in Interlaken, a 30 minute drive from Geneva or Ithaca. Tickets are required and, because of social distancing, seating is extremely limited. Tickets are available to purchase online at www.thesmith.org. The Smith box office will not be open for over the phone or in person sales.
All parties will be socially distanced, and ticket holders will need to bring a blanket or lawn chair for seating. Seating is first-come, first-served and the lawn “opens” one hour before show time. Delicious take-out meals and beverages will be available from Supernatural Lake to bring onto the lawn. Please NO outside food or beverages. Alternatively, you may book a reservation at Supernatural Lake’s restaurant and dine on the deck. A $10 per person music charge will be applied to your bill.
While at the concert, all ticket holders will be required to abide by The Smith’s “code of conduct” to limit the spread of COVID-19. Code behaviors include (but are not limited to) wearing a mask unless you are seated, maintaining 6 feet of distance from others whenever possible, practicing good hand hygiene, following the directions of the Smith and Supernatural staff, and staying home if you feel sick.
In case of inclement weather, shows will be rescheduled and all ticket buyers will be notified at least 3 hours before showtime.
