Stop by the gallery to meet Kathy Armstrong and admire her watercolors on Friday, June 2 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Irondequoit artist, Kathy Armstrong, believes that any subject matter can make a great painting with the right light and composition, and she enjoys painting everything from machinery to fruity orange segments. But a recurring love of hers is exploring the amazing beauty in flowers and gardens. Armstrong is the featured artist at Pittsford Fine Art for the month of June and will be exhibiting many of her new floral watercolor paintings. Kathy will be at the gallery for First Friday on June 2, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Armstrong is one of the gallery’s founding artists and in addition to studio painting also enjoys plein air painting — painting outdoors. Although watercolor is her main focus, she also paints in oil and occasionally acrylic. For this show she will be showing only watercolors.

She is a signature member of the Philadelphia Water Color Society, Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society, and the Rochester Art Club, and paints outdoors with the Greater Rochester Plein Air Painters. An award-winning artist, she shows her work locally, nationally and internationally. Armstrong has been juried into three Rochester/Finger Lakes Exhibitions at the Memorial Art Gallery, winning the Alice E. Koret Award in 2019. Her painting, “Rust & Rivets” is on display at the MAG through August 6. She also sells work in the STORE @ MAG.

Armstrong started painting full-time and teaching watercolor in 2019, after leaving a long career in graphic design. She holds classes in person as well as virtually throughout the year. Samples of her work and information on classes can be found at Pittsford Fine Art’s website, as well as at her own site at kathyarmstrongfineart.com.
