Re-Open New York is a coalition of nearly 300 small businesses in New York City calling for a reopening by May 26, for all small businesses across the state. Their point of contention is that big box stores have been allowed to be open during the pandemic, where many people congregate in small areas. The coalition’s argument is that small businesses should also be allowed to open, since small groups normally shop there. Life in the Finger Lakes magazine has always been a champion for the small businesses – the boutiques, shops and enterprises that make up the heart and soul of the Finger Lakes Region. We encourage you to continue to support these businesses – especially our advertisers.

Stay up to date with the modernity of weekly emails or text messages on movie titles and times which help bridge the gap of images of staring up at a big screen or iconic dates with the newer generations. The Schweinfurth Art Center unveiled a new light installation that is being projected onto the second-floor windows of the art center. The exhibit, titled “Threads of Light,” is a collaboration between Skaneateles artist Lorne Covington and contemporary textile artist Gerri Spilka. Covington, who creates interactive artwork and installations as Noirflux, manipulated images of Spilka’s large-scale art quilts by adding movement. The resulting work is a changing textile of pattern and light visible from the front of the art center between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
