Self-Guided Paddling is back!

07/08/2021

Due to the incredible success of last year’s self-guided paddling programs, the Finger Lakes Museum is excited to announce that they are again offering these excursions. With tickets for every Tuesday and Friday in July (morning and afternoon slots available) this will allow you the freedom to explore Sugar Creek wetlands and Keuka Lake at your own pace. The $40 ticket cost includes 2 hours on the water with an informational sheet, gear (kayak, paddles and life vest) rental. A great way to enjoy the water and learn more about the habitats, species and life of the wetlands.

Time is running out to secure your Paddle Keuka 5K race t-shirt. All tickets purchased until 7/11 include a t-shirt. It’s gearing up to be a great day and a fun race, so don’t miss out on the fun.

As part of the ACA Kayak Instructor course taking place this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Museum, Richard Costello is giving a rolling demonstration on Friday, 7/9. The paddling community is invited to observe this short demonstration. Time is set for 4 p.m. on the water but please arrive by 3:30pm to allow time to get parked, launched and out to the lake. Park by the barn, head out to the lake and look for a crowd of kayaks just past the shallow water buoys. There is no cost and no registration is required but please contact Debbie Lyon, Program Director, via e-mail at dlyon@fingerlakesmuseum.org to let her know you are going to attend. Check out Richard’s YouTube channel link below to see what adventures (and rolls) he has been documenting.
