Summer performance series continues with an eclectic mix of music at venues around the region.
The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra today announced their line-up of RPO Outdoors performances for the month of July, continuing one of the most ambitious and extensive summer seasons that the orchestra has ever produced.
July begins with a blast when the RPO celebrates America’s birthday on July 3rd with Red, White and Boom! at CMAC complete with fireworks!
The RPO will be producing a series of concerts at one of Rochester’s newest outdoor venues: the Dawn Lipson Canalside Stage at the JCC, beginning with a family concert series. RPO Outdoors: Kids Concerts are designed for families with smaller children and feature ensembles from the RPO. The RPO Marimba Band will perform the first concert on Saturday, June 26th (10am and 11:30am). Subsequent concerts on Sunday, July 25th (1pm and 2:30pm), and Saturday, August 14th (10am and 11:30am) will feature RPO ensembles in 45-minute, family-friendly performances.
The Dawn Lipson Canalside Stage at the JCC will also be the scene of orchestra concerts on July 16th, conducted by Larry Loh, and on August 6th, conducted by Matthew Kraemer.
The RPO returns to the Perinton Center Stage Amphitheater with two concerts conducted by Principal Pops Conductor, Jeff Tyzik. On July 9th and 10th, Tyzik welcomes guest artist Byron Stripling for an evening of music from New Orleans. On July 22nd and 23rd, international powerhouse and Broadway star Shayna Steele will join Jeff Tyzik in a program honoring musical divas such as Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and Mariah Carey.
The RPO will visit beautiful Bristol Mountain on July 17th with a program conducted by Larry Loh.
The safety of patrons, staff and musicians is of paramount importance to the RPO. Following on a recent survey conducted by the RPO, safety is the number one factor in determining attendance at events, and the RPO has put safety measures in place to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable musical experience. The orchestra also plans a number of free, un-ticketed concerts and pop-up appearances around the region throughout July and August including performances at Susan B. Anthony Square Park and Ontario Beach; along the Erie Canal at Pittsford and Brockport; I-Square in Irondequoit; and at The 5 in Downtown Rochester.
