For the adventurous soul who wants outdoor excitement all year long, the waterways and mountains of the Finger Lakes are beckoning. One such place to satisfy that free-living spirit is Ontario County. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy skiing, snowboarding and riding ziplines during the winter. The same ziplines are actually open during the spring, summer and fall as well – a part of Bristol Mountain Aerial Adventures.
The Zipline Canopy Tour opened in November of 2015. During the official ribbon-cutting ceremony the following June, Steven Fuller of Bristol Mountain stated, “Our mission is to inspire multiple generations to enjoy an active lifestyle in a natural environment.” The zipline tour and aerial adventure park are the results of that focus. The tour features seven zip lines measuring over 5,000 feet, four bridges with spectacular views of the Bristol Valley, two off-road rides, and one final leap of faith. The lines are anywhere from 200 feet long to 1,600 feet long. Speeds of 50 miles per hour can be reached on some of the lines. Each three-hour tour is led by two guides and is limited to only 10 participants. Participants must weigh between 80 and 250 pounds for safety reasons.
Bristol Mountain Aerial Adventures is a recreation-based family outdoor activity. An Aerial Adventure Park is a series of challenge courses interwoven within the forest canopy. The park consists of more than seven courses with varying levels of difficulty. Each course is made up of 12 to 15 elements with each element being suspended between platforms that are secured to trees. Elements include zip lines, tight rope walks, rope ladders, and bridges. Reservations are highly recommended to avoid disappointment.
A Kids Adventure Park is also a part of the fun. Two courses are specifically designed for kids aged 4 to 7. Children can gain confidence as they navigate, balance and zip their way through the trees.
