SUCCESSFUL SAUTE
Tuesday, January 4 | 5:30-7pm
Learn to master sautéing – a basic technique that is used repeatedly in restaurant kitchens and is easy to do at home. In this virtual class, you will learn how to choose the right sauté pan, understand temperature control, and gain invaluable preparation tips all while making a delicious meal from the comfort of your own home! We will make Chicken Saltimbocca with Lemon Asparagus Couscous.

 

WINES OF SENECA LAKE
Sunday, January 9 | 12-1:30pm
Seneca Lake is the largest of the Finger Lakes, hosting more than 50 beautiful vineyards that stretch for hundreds of acres on sloping hills that surround the lake. The combination of its depth and sloping hillsides creates a perfect environment for many grape varietals. In this class, we’ll explore what makes these wines special to our region, and you’ll be led through tasting some of the best wines of Seneca Lake by our certified wine educator.

 

VIRTUAL FAMILY COOKING: WONTONS
Tuesday, January 11 | 6-7:30pm
Wontons and dumplings are delicious, filled pockets of noodle dough that are fun and easy to make, especially after you learn some tips from our Chef Instructor. Not only are they delicious, but they are also versatile as they can be prepared in a variety of ways. From the comfort of your own kitchen, make pork potstickers and vegetable wontons, step-by-step with New York Kitchen’s chef!

 

COOKING WITH GUGLIELMO
Thursday, January 13 | 6-8pm
Join NYK’s Chef Instructor along with owner and creator of Guglielmo Sauce, Pauly Guglielmo, for an immersive and entertaining cooking experience. Rochester resident, small business / food manufacturing owner, and former radio host, Paul Guglielmo, has a successful line of pasta sauces you’ve seen on shelves across our region. Roll up your sleeves as we create fresh and flavorful meals inspired by his line of sauces!

WSET LEVEL 1 AWARD IN WINES
Saturday, January 22, 2022 | 9am – 5pm
For individuals new to wine study, this qualification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. You’ll explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately and make food and wine pairings. A beginner-level introduction to wine is suitable for those starting a wine career or pursuing an interest in wine. LEARN MORE HERE.

WSET LEVEL 2 AWARD IN WINES
Friday, February 4 – Sunday, February 6
10am – 5:30pm (all three days)
This course is a beginner to intermediate level qualification exploring wines, suitable for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts. You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence. LEARN MORE HERE.

NEW YORK WINE + CHEESE CLASS
Sunday, January 23 | 3-4:30pm
Wine & Cheese: Each is delicious on its own, but when you pair the two, magic can happen. In this class, we’ll discuss the variety of choices and what combinations make the best pairings. A classic cheeseboard will be paired with a tasting of wines, all made here in New York State! As our wine educator guides you through sampling these selections, we will discuss considerations for creating an interesting, well-balanced cheese board, including ideas for a wide range of delicious accompaniments.
