New Artists and New Art on the Naples Open Studio Trail

09/18/2018

NEW ARTWORKS AND LOCAL ART CELEBRITY DARRYL ABRAHAM RETURNS TO FREE SELF-GUIDED ART TOUR AND SALE, OCTOBER 6-7, 10am – 5pm

Naples Open Studio Trail (NOST), a group of dynamic, innovative artists that invite the public into their studios every October, announced that Darryl Abraham will be returning after a multi-year hiatus in Israel. Exciting new artworks will also be available for purchase from established NOST artists and visiting guest artists. Visitors can visit during the free, self-guided art trail, October 6-7, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

NOST also announces that David Chandler of Upcycled Designs joins the 2018 Trail; his work features reclaimed materials like driftwood turned into tables, chairs, mirrors, etc. Jeanne Beck, whose gallery is based in downtown Canandaigua, is a featured guest artist at Scott Grove’s studio. She creates abstract paintings and mixed media artwork that often includes luxurious and gleaming gold leaf.

Abraham is a local art celebrity; his sculptures and drawings of farmhouses, stores, boats, and landscapes celebrate the history of the Finger Lakes region, and his artwork is found on store signs and murals throughout the town of Naples. Abraham’s work is also a part of the collection of the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Museum of American Art.

From Bristol to Naples to Rushville, NOST artists surround Canandaigua Lake: this year, eleven studios host 15 artists that work in oils, ceramics, metal, wood, yarn, pastels, clay, and create paintings, sculpture, wearables, furniture, jewelry, photography, housewares, etc. Captivating demonstrations are presented throughout the two-day event. These artists typically sell their wares in galleries and craft fairs; during NOST, purchases and commissions can be made directly with the artist.

Trail riders enjoy spectacular, pastoral scenery, changing fall colors, winding back roads, and creative interaction with artists while driving from studio to studio. Each of these artists will show and sell their work in one of the Trail Artist’s studios, galleries, or homes.
