Moosewood Restaurant is one of Ithaca’s most well-known restaurants. It is a collectively owned and operated restaurant located in the downtown area that serves vegetarian fare exclusively.
Last night, I had the pleasure of going there for dinner with friends. The meal was delicious. Sitting out on the veranda, we started out with cocktails; I tried a grapefruit basil martini. It was a fairly sweet drink, the citrus of the grapefruit blended well with the freshness of the basil. It was a treat.
For an appetizer, I chose the Sopa de Lima and the Peanut Curry Tofu. The Sopa de Lima was hearty and spicy, so I was glad to have my sweeter martini to balance out the well-spiced soup. The Peanut Curry Tofu was really yummy. I love peanuts and I love curry, so having the two combined was delicious for me.
For my main course, I had the Summer Salad. This was a nice fresh, light salad with almonds, strawberries, tomatoes and fresh chevre cheese. The chevre and strawberry mix was especially tasty.
To end with, I had a Horse Head beer. This IPA was a wonderful way to end to the meal.
The service, food, and atmosphere makes Moosewood worth the visit.
