Progress is underway on the seventh edition of Bluff & Vine, the Finger Lakes’ premier literary magazine, but there’s still time for local writers and artists to submit their work.
Founding editors Bethany Snyder and Alex Andrasik encourage creatives of all kinds to consider submitting. Bluff & Vine publishes the best in local fiction, nonfiction, poetry and memoir. The key requirement is that work be set in the Finger Lakes, or otherwise reflect our beautiful region. Writers are encouraged to submit prose works of 5,000 words or less, or up to five poems.
Each edition also always features beautiful cover art. Past covers have provided a spotlight for painting, photography, mosaic, and even fiber art. “Our cover needs art that’s 4.5 inches wide and 9 inches tall,” Snyder explained. “Send us your most Finger Lakes-inspired paintings, photographs, needlepoint, sculpture… whatever you’ve made in a visual medium that would be amazing on the cover!”
The deadline for Issue Seven is August 15. All submission guidelines can be found at bluffandvine.com, and submissions can be sent to bluffandvine@gmail.com.
Past issues can be found on Amazon or at Long’s Cards and Books. The latest edition is a special commemorative issue celebrating Yates County’s bicentennial and can also be found at the Yates County History Center.
