With just two weeks remaining, Bluff & Vine is urging local writers and artists to submit their creepiest, most captivating work for the literary magazine’s inaugural themed issue, “In the Shadows.”
“We’ve been thrilled by the volume of submissions so far,” says Bethany Snyder, co-editor of Bluff & Vine. “The Finger Lakes Region is rich with history and lore – including the creepy kind – and we can’t wait to see what else rolls in before the end of the month.”
Bluff & Vine is seeking submissions that delve into the darker side of the Finger Lakes. From spine-tingling tales to haunting artwork for the cover, the magazine is looking for pieces that capture the region’s mysterious and macabre atmosphere.
“We’re open to a wide range of interpretations of the theme,” adds Alex Andrasik, co-editor. “Whether you’re crafting a classic ghost story or exploring the psychological depths of a character, we want to see your unique take on the shadowy side of the Finger Lakes.”
While the editors are eager to receive chilling submissions, they emphasize that the issue is not limited to Halloween-themed work. “We’re looking for stories that resonate beyond the spooky season,” Snyder explains. “We want to create an issue that lingers in readers’ minds long after October 31.”
Submissions for “Issue Eight: In the Shadows” will close on July 31. All submissions must have a connection to the Finger Lakes Region. For more information or to submit your work, please email bluffandvine@gmail.com. Submission details can be found at bluffandvine.com.
Bluff & Vine is the Finger Lakes’ premiere independent literary magazine, dedicated to showcasing the region’s talent and inspiring a love of reading and writing.
