Geneva Past and Present: Molly Matthews

Exhibition: June 3–July 1

Opening: Saturday, June 3, 4–6 pm

Opening reception music by Smooth Groovy

Molly Matthews combines historic photos of Geneva buildings and businesses with current images of the same locations to compare and contrast then and now to show the changes that have taken place in these spaces. She says of this body of work, “The reason for this was to show the change in the types of businesses in Geneva with the shift from stores like groceries, bakeries, butchers, clothing stores, and many others that held a purpose for the community’s benefit to a larger focus on tourism and services, such as restaurants and bars.”

The Dove presents three monthly activities to engage in your creative curiosity and virtuosity.

Art in Fiction Discussion Group

Every second Thursday at 5:00 pm beginning June 8

The Dove will host an Art in Fiction discussion group beginning June 8. This is a chance to gather with like-minded readers and dig into fictional worlds of art and artists. Wine and nibbles will be served.

The first meeting is June 8 to discuss “Georgia” by Dawn Tripp.

“In a dazzling work of historical fiction in the vein of Nancy Horan’s Loving Frank, Dawn Tripp brings to life Georgia O’Keeffe, her love affair with photographer Alfred Stieglitz, and her quest to become an independent artist.” (Google Books)
