Walking tour offers a glimpse of downtown’s most sought after addresses
If you’ve ever wanted to see downtown apartments or learn about the downtown lifestyle, this weekend is your chance.
From 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, The Downtown Ithaca Alliance (DIA) is hosting its Downtown Living Tour, a self-guided excursion that will provide something for everyone, from young professionals and empty nesters looking to live downtown to those interested in interior design, historic preservation, urban living, and more!
“The Downtown Living Tour is the perfect opportunity for people to take a look at what downtown living is all about. Guests will have access to most of the sought after apartment complexes, and our vibrant business community is going to welcome them with special deals and activities,” says DIA Executive Director Gary Ferguson.
The tour is presented by City Centre, downtown’s newest, yet to open, housing and dining development featuring luxurious studio, 1- and 2-bedroom apartments in the heart of downtown’s shopping and dining district. Guests will also be able to view residences in some of downtown’s most iconic buildings, such as the Carey Building and Dewitt Mall, and have the chance to see the gorgeous penthouse in the Renvyle Building at 134 E. State St., located in the heart of the Commons pedestrian mall; the LEED-certified apartments at Gateway Commons on the banks of Six Mile Creek and just steps away from the Commons; a newly renovated apartment in Press Bay Court at 110 W. Green Street, and more.
In addition to exploring the beautiful residences available in downtown, guests may also enjoy great deals and freebies at some of downtown’s shops and restaurants. The Merchants at the Dewitt Mall will be will throwing a big fanfare to welcome guests. Toko Imports will be offering 20% off is wide selection of hats, Buffalo Street Books, Ithaca’s community-owned independent bookstore will be offering a coupon for 20% off your next purchase, Cat’s Pajamas and Fibers Boutique are collaborating to provide free wine tastings and joyous bubble blowing, while Cafe Dewitt, a three-time Best of Ithaca Brunch winner, will be serving delicious eats; Cayuga Coins will offer a free lucky penny to those who come to visit. Additional details about these and other offerings along with information about each building or apartment on the tour will be available in the Downtown Living Guide which will be given to each participant when they purchase tickets for the event.
Tickets for this fantastic tour are $5 and can be purchased the day of the event at a registration booth that will be available on The Commons starting at 12:30 p.m. Participants will receive a lanyard tour pass and Downtown Living pamphlet that includes a map and coupons.
