At Ithaca Children’s Garden, our vision is that every child has the basic human right to play, learn, and grow outdoors, and that every child develops a life-long relationship with the living world. A huge part of ICG’s values and identity is being free and open to all, and to offer programming at an affordable cost to families.
Scholarships are critical to how ICG achieves this mission, allowing us to serve families with the greatest need. To do this, we lead with scholarship availability and guarantee that families can get any level of scholarship support needed to be able to participate.
More than 20% of families in ICG’s registered programs (Camps, Playful Nature Explorers, After School @ ICG) receive need-based scholarships each year. We are committed to simple, accessible, and dignified scholarship processes. Out of respect for each family’s private financial information, ICG does not request personal financial details as part of the application process.
Our projected scholarship need this year is greater than ever, as many families continue to struggle to make ends meet through the pandemic, while balancing the cost of childcare. We need to raise $20,000 for our Scholarship Fund. While a generous donor has stepped up with a $10,000 matching gift, we are now asking our community to help us raise $10,000 to unlock this gift by Earth Day, April 22nd. The link to make a gift to our Scholarship Fund can be found here. Thank you to all who have already made a gift to support scholarships.
