Join us for I Love My Park Day, a statewide event held each year on the first Saturday of May to celebrate and enhance New York’s parks, historic sites, greenway trails and other public lands. Volunteers of all ages can participate in various outdoor stewardship activities to help prepare our green spaces for the busy recreation season.
150 I Love My Park Day events are scheduled on May 4, 2024 across the state, with anticipated participation from 6,000+ volunteers. This is a fantastic opportunity for community members to come together, enjoy the outdoors, and contribute towards the preservation of our beautiful parks and historic sites–especially .
I Love My Park Day is an annual event coordinated by Park & Trails New York in partnership with the New York State Office of Park, Recreation and Historic Preservation and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

Location: Meet at the Main Pavilion
Project Description: Trail maintenance, invasive species removal, spreading playground chips and spruce up flower beds.
Event: Stony Brook State Park

Time: 10 AM – 12 PM
Location: Meet near the parking lot of Clara Barton Shelter
Project Description: Building of birdhouses, painting pre-existing birdhouses, trash clean up along the trails, light shovel work cleaning up the entrance of Gorge Trail and tree planting.

Project Description: Weeding, trim birding trail and litter pick up,
Event: Robert H Treman State Park

Location: Meet at South Shelter at Lower Treman – near campground
Project Description: Planting trees and other native plants, trail maintenance, Lower Falls area clean up, Old Mill Museum spring clean up and general park clean up.

Project Description: Mulching plants, raking flower beds and shrubs, general clean up, and planting flowers, trees and shrubs.

Location: Meet at the garage door of the DPW/Wharton Building
Project Description: Clean up of garden beds, planting new landscaping, raking the playground, mulching and trimming lakeside vegetation.

Project Description: Beach clean up, planting near the beach area and site clean up.
