Historic Owego Has Much to Offer!

While history buffs, architecture fanatics and preservation enthusiasts are sure to feel at home exploring the streets of Historic Downtown Owego in Tioga County, behind those preserved facades is a bounty of entertainment, shopping, art and culture waiting to be discovered by the curious adventurer.

If dining is your pleasure, our many restaurants and eateries have something waiting for you. Choices range from regional Italian, Mexican, and new American cuisine, to great burgers, pizza and sweet treats. Several charming Bed & Breakfast inns offer lodging for mid-week getaways or restorative long weekends. 

With over 75 artists on display in our galleries and unique shops, 100 antique dealers offering their one of a kind finds, a variety of clothing and specialty food stores and our still thriving bookstore, if small town shopping is on your agenda then you’ve reached your destination.

The Nightlife in our historic village is just as vibrant as our daytime amenities. The best in regional music and entertainment is on offer every weekend, along with our very own brewery, craft cocktail bars and hometown watering holes!

Not only is a walk around Owego beautiful, it’s also easy! First Friday is your chance to take a small town walk, while experiencing how Owego brings together art, live music, dining, shopping and socializing in a fun and casual environment, no car needed!

Looking for a festival? The Annual Owego Strawberry Festival has become a staple of upstate New York summer fun!  Since the debut of the Owego Strawberry Festival 38 years ago, hundreds of thousands of people have been drawn to downtown Owego to experience its charm. An estimated 20,000 visitors come back year after year. The 2018 Strawberry Festival will be held on June 15 and 16.

Winter doesn’t stop us here in Owego! Santa stops by early on Saturday, November 11  as our Holiday Showcase marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season.  We end the year with a spectacular firework display over the Susquehanna River during Lights on the River, Friday December 7.
