Greco Jewelers has been a family run business for 72 years, now 3 generations.
Joseph Greco started his business straight out of the Marine Corps. While in the Marines Joe, was an instrument repair specialist from 1942 – 1946 based in Pearl Harbor. Greco Jewelers started in a small one room store next to the old firehouse in Lyons NY in 1947; the store was then relocated to 9 Canal Street where Joe specialized in home goods, jewelry and watches. The store was known for its famous slogan, “The Little Store with Big Value”, and that is still in place today.
Joe was one of the best watchmakers in New York State. He was the last of the New York Central watch inspectors in the area. Joe also worked on the first Bulova watch to go up in the Apollo Space Shuttle.
In 1979 Joanne (Joe’s daughter) joined the business. After completing trade school, the store offered all jewelry benchwork in the store. Joanne opened a trade shop at Greco’s that provided services for 8 other local jewelry stores; these stores sent their repairs to Greco Jewelers. In 1983 Greco Jewelers moved across the street to 8 Canal Street offering jewelry, watches, repairs and custom designing for jewelry.
Joe Greco passed in 2015. The store is currently owned and operated by his daughter, Joanne. Joanne’s daughter, Javana, has joined the business and is being trained to carry on the Greco Jewelry legacy.
Greco’s carries a large selection of high-quality jewelry and specializes in diamonds with prices that can’t be beat. All repairs and designs are still done on site and offer repair services while you wait.
Personalized customer service has been the key to Greco’s success, now 3 generations strong.
