“Fun on the Farm” – Ontario County’s Premier Agricultural Event

"Fun on the Farm" is an educational open house held at a dairy farm in Ontario County every other September.

Fun on the Farm is an event that happens every other year at Lightland Farm in Stanley. This is the 14th event in the past 26 years. It is planned and executed by volunteers from the Ontario County agriculture community because they’d like to teach others about the agriculture industry. The fun and educational event is designed to educate the non-farming public and others in the community about the agriculture that they see every day.

On Friday, September 29, area schools are invited to bring their third and fourth grade students to the farm for a preview of Fun on the Farm with a wagon tour. There are educational displays and hands-on activities for the children.

Saturday, September 30 attracts thousands of people. Everyone from young families to senior citizens attends the event. On this day, the farm takes the opportunity to communicate to the community the benefits of the agricultural production in Ontario County, the state and the nation. The event is put on by agricultural businesses, agr-services and people directly involved in the business of agriculture. Members of the 4-H and FFA will also show off their animals and exercise their leadership and public-speaking skills.

The event is free! There are many products to be sampled, and it is the perfect place to try an agricultural product that has been seen in stores but not necessarily purchased.

A local service organization is providing lunch, available for purchase.
