On Friday October 21 from 7 to 9 p.m., Fulkerson Winery will host Finger Lakes Litspiration. The name derived from the idea to showcase literature that was inspired by the Finger Lakes from authors near and far. The featured guest will be Kristan Higgins, a NY Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, and international best-selling author. Kristan will be accompanied by Mary Pat Hyland, Laurie Gifford Adams, Roz Murphy, and Katie O’Boyle; 4 local authors who will be signing and selling books, and talking about why the Finger Lakes has played a part in their writing. There will be wine and light fare to enjoy, along with a silent auction to benefit the Humane Society of Yates County – Shelter of Hope in light of dog rescues playing a role in many of the authors work.
Kristan Higgins
The award-winning and international bestselling Blue Heron Series written by Kristan Higgins was inspired by the small town of Hammondsport, NY, along with other wineries, businesses, and landmarks within the region. Some of the places mentioned in the series are based on what Sayre Fulkerson, owner and winemaker at Fulkerson Winery, showed Kristan while she was doing research. The vineyard in the book is a combination of Fulkerson Winery and Heron Hill Winery. It has the acreage and family history of Fulkerson, but set on Keuka Lake.
