New York State will require anyone operating a motorized boat to earn a safe boating certificate by 2025. In 2024, anyone born on or after January 1, 1978 is required to be a certified safe boater. Finger Lakes Boating Museum in Hammondsport will again be offering the Boater Safety Course this spring and summer. Taught by a certified New York State boater safety instructor, this day-long course will prepare participants to earn a certificate that is valid for life. The Museum will offer the course from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on the following dates:
