Dick Jopson, a local treasure, was well-known as a country music performer who made thousands of public appearances with his band, The Northernaires. In 2016 he was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his “outstanding contributions to country music” at the New York State Country Music Museum and Park in Cortland. Jopson had previously been awarded membership in their Country Music Wall of Honor in 2012, and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2013. Jopson was also honored as the very first Livingston County Legend, based on his years of service as former constable for Livonia, a Geneseo police officer, and the former Livingston County Sheriff, as well as his generous contributions to the community. He was active in the efforts of the Little Lakes Community Association, along with his wife, Donna. In addition to his other achievements, Dick was an avid toy collector.
