Tied by Water is a work-in-progress by performance artist, and Joyce Foundation Fellow Moheb Soliman (Minneapolis MN). Moheb is tracing the entire Great Lakes coastline by land for four months and RoCo will host him in Rochester.
On July 28, Moheb will give a talk and performance with overlays of images, language, and gesture, presented in the context of a low-fi installation involving a tent, overhead projector, and artifacts from his travels. The Artist will discuss his on-going project circling the lakes and his ideas for exploring the place of nature and the sublime in modernity and identity, the differing narratives of belonging in the region, and the extent to which the wild, populous Great Lakes borderland has a coherent culture rooted in geography, history, and economy.
