FHPAC’s Community Concerts Series Presents the Finger Lakes Community Band, under the direction of Greg Kane.
Finger Lakes Community Band offers “Home Grown”, one of the most unique concerts in the band’s history. FLCB has pooled together only band compositions from composers right here in the Finger Lakes and Rochester area. Along with popular composers like Howard Hanson and Chuck Mangione, this concert will feature works from some well known former Canandaigua band Instructors; Jack Bullock’s “Big Band Spectacular”, Brian Story’s poignant “Gently Flows the Amber Grain” and Tom Davis’ “People’s Park March”. FLCB band members will be represented; John Wales’ “Reconciliation”, based on his observations of friendships and respect at Pearl Harbor and Dave Hayden’s “Peace in Time”, for trumpet solo and concert band, written in memory of fellow trumpeter, John Moreland, who played in the FLCB well into his 90s. The work will feature Canandaigua’s own Diana Chase as trumpet soloist. As a bonus, she’ll perform “Carnival of Venice” with the band. Another fun extra, experience a 19th century march from Naples own, O.E.Sutton, a prolific composer of his time. It all adds up to Home Grown fun proving Home is where the Art is!
