The western shores of Seneca Lake are home to some of the most well-respected wine-makers in the Finger Lakes. On this tour, you will learn their stories and taste the outcome of their commitment and passion to their craft.
Our first stop is Kemmeter Winery, the boutique winery of Johannes Rienhardt. Johannes comes from a wine-making family in Germany that has been making wines since the mid 15th century. He left Germany, and moved to the Finger Lakes to express his own vision of fine wine making. Enjoy an intimate experience with Johannes as he shares with you the progress of his young vineyard, followed by a wine-tasting designed to share with you the personality of the fruit in its purest form.
Next, get ready to never think about wieners and burgers the same way again. TheFLX Wienery is the special eatery project of couple Christopher Bates and Isabel Bogadtke. Christopher is a Master Sommelier and Isabel was named by Mobil Travel Guide as offering the Best Service in the World. Today, their collaborative energies go into creating Wienery and Burger “Art” bringing together flavors and textures from locally-sourced ingredients that unveil their creations. From their house-made sausages and freshly ground burgers to their hand-cut fries and chips, get ready for what has been called “arguably the best hot dog stand in the world.” Lunch is paired with selected craft beers from around the globe.
After lunch, we make our way up the road to Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyards, where we will enjoy a private tasting in the winery. Wiemer is considered one of the top Riesling producers in the United States, and was recognized by Wine & Spirits Magazine as one of the top 100 American wineries for 2014. We will explore exquisite white varietals followed by examples of vineyard variations in their Cabernet Franc.
Our final stop of the day is Red Tail Ridge Winery. Red Tail Ridge is recognized by the New York Times, Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast as one of the best producers in the region. Winemaker Nancy Irelan has made a name in the region for exploring grape varieties not seen anywhere else in the region, like the German Dornfelder and the Italian Teroldego in addition to more classic Finger Lakes varietals. Enjoy a private tasting featuring their array of unique wines as the perfect ending to a great day.
Price: $145.00 per person. This price includes the transportation, tasting fees, added services, lunch, and special food pairings. This price is associated with a 5 person total guest count. Alternate pricing and touring options are available for tours that do not meet this minimum.
