Come and enjoy BOOKED, a feature-length film that Penfield native, Eli Owens, wrote and stars in alongside fellow
Cincinnati Conservatory classmates Cassie Maurer and Chesney Mitchell. The trio wrote the film while in their second semester senior year of their BFA Musical Theatre program. The award winning film, produced by 35th Parallel Productions and set to screen at the historic Little Theatre on February 4th at 3pm, follows Kenny and Owen, two high school theatre geeks who are snubbed for the leads in their senior musical. To prove their worth in the eyes of their dismissive and invalidating classmates and teacher, they audition for the top college BFA Musical Theatre programs to prove they have what it takes.
BOOKED has garnered honors including, “Best of Fest” (Cindependent Film Festival), “Best Narrative Feature Film” & “Best Score” (Sky Arts Film Festival), plus BOOKED was a finalist at the Oscar-qualifying Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival.
The public screening will benefit the Penfield High School Drama Club – a program that is near to Owens’ heart, as he attributes a great deal of his artistic success to the experiences and education he received while actively participating in the club. In lieu of ticket sales, donations to Penfield Drama Club will be accepted, and encouraged, at the door.
