What is a bobolink, you ask? It’s a grassland songbird that travels to and from southern South America ever year.

Some species of birds dependent on grasslands for nesting cover and foraging areas  are threatened or endangered due to lack of suitable habitat. Where appropriate habitat does exist, grassland species can be locally abundant. Join Saunders Finger Lakes Museum volunteers for a morning walk across an upland property in Prattsburgh where open areas are now managed primarily for the benefit of these birds. We’ll talk about what’s happening there in that regard, walk about a mile to identify and record numerous species of birds and review notes on birds identified at the end of the morning over some breakfast type beverages and light food items.
