Cortland Free Library
Twenty-one local photographers will have their work on display at Cortland Free Library starting Friday evening, October 4, from 5 to 8 PM, as part of this month’s First Friday events. This is the ninth juried Regional Photography Exhibit, sponsored each year by the Cultural Council of Cortland County (CCCC), and will remain on display during regular library hours through October 22. This year entries are entered in one of four image genres – Reflection, Repetition, Geometric Forms, or Macro (closeup).
Awards are given in each category and will be announced at 5:45 PM. The judge in this year’s show is Andrew Gillis, Assistant Professor of Photography at TC3.* He will give a brief talk about the photos chosen for awards, as well as others of particular interest.
While enjoying the photography, starting at 6 PM visitors will be treated to the lyrical music of harpist Lisa Fenwick. Refreshments will also be provided.
First Friday is a monthly event sponsored by the Cultural Council of Cortland County highlighting arts and music in downtown Cortland. The photography show is one of several events this month. More information is available at the CCCC Facebook page or at https://www.culturalcouncilofcortlandcounty.org/first-fridays.
Ms. Fenwick’s performance is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by CNY Arts.
