Our exhibition Past| Present: Expanding the Stories of Glass shows how the stories that objects tell are always evolving. Past | Present explores how objects reveal stories about people across time and place, and how the Museum can broaden voices and narratives in our galleries. The text in this exhibition—which emerged from dialogues among curators, educators, scholars, artists, and other community members—is only a starting point.
Inspired the Past | Present exhibition’s theme of “Makers,” Chris Rochelle will create a piece that is his own interpretation of the Venetian glass tradition. For this demo Rochelle will draw from the repertoire of technique he has gathered throughout his career, as a maker influenced by the museum’s collection and the many other makers who he has worked with over the years.
CMoG’s Curator of Modern Glass, Alexandra Ruggiero, will introduce the livestream, talk about the exhibition, Past | Present: expanding the stories of glass, and discuss how it inspired Rochelle’
