PRESENTERS: Leanora Mims
Leanora Mims is a Master Quilt Griot living in Tompkins County. She has created quilts for members of her family, members of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity in celebration of the 140th Commencement of Hampton University and quilts honoring the service of USMC NCO’s in her family.
Ms. Mims will show her most recent oral history quilt created with 33 English Juniors Honors Students from Tompkins County. The students were taught lessons via Zoom about Dave the Potter and Author, Toni Morrison.
A research paper written by Ms. Mims regarding the quilt will be made available at the History Center.
