Opening Reception: April 1, 6-9pm
Released in collaboration with RoCo starting March 2020, The Warp & Weft is an online audio archive created and curated by interdisciplinary artist Mara Ahmed. Now a year later, with the coronavirus still with us and the world knit together as tightly as ever, we revisit the archive as a multimedia exhibition The Warp & Weft [Face to Face].
LAB Space: On The Shoulders Of Giants by Ya’qub Shabazz
April 1, 2022 – May 7, 2022
Opening Reception: April 1, 6-9pm
On The Shoulders Of Giants consists of a new series of portraits by native Chicagoan, poet, U.S. Army Veteran, and formerly incarcerated artist, Ya’qub Shabazz. In April 2020, Shabazz formed a love for digital painting and set out on a mission to document (visually) those historic figures that inspired him most in his formative years as an incarcerated young person. Each of the portraits represents how these people took the canvas of life and painted their own portraits.
