TWO-DAY NATIVE NATIONS FESTIVAL
PRESENTED BY SGS AT WATSON HOMESTEAD
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd & 23rd
A unique 2-Day Festival will bring Native American Dancers, Drummers, Exhibits, Crafts and Demonstrations to the Watson Homestead, 9620 Dry Run Road, Painted Post NY. Presenter SGS “Seven Generations of Stewards” (a recently organized Not-For-Profit in the Corning Area) was formed with a mission statement to educate and share Native Nations’ cultures, traditions and foods. This Event is Free and open to the public Saturday, 9/22 and Sunday 9/23. Gates open at 9am with the Grand Entry Ceremony at 1 0am each day. Gates close at 6pm Saturday, and 4pm on Sunday.
Throughout each day at the main arena, Traditional Dance and Drumming Performances will feature “The Thunderbirds” an American Indian Dance Troup comprised of New York Tribe descendants (Mohawk, Hopi, Winnebago and San Blas tribes). Also featured at the main arena are the Nahui Ollin Aztec Dancers as represented by the Salinas Family of Mexico City, Mexico. The
“Old Bridge Singers” will provide their specialty music with the beautiful songs and drumming expected at Native Nation Festivals and Pow-Wow Events.
The excitement continues with Storytelling, and educational interactive workshops in Beadworking, Moccasin-Making, Flint-Knapping, Toys, Games, and many other artisan products from Native Vendors. Educational opportunities abound for all with Live Demonstrations, and a TouchTable laden with Traditional native tools, weaponry, and Native Herbal specimens and practices. Let’s not forget an abundance of Native Nations’ foods – Three Sisters Soup, Buffalo Tacos, Fry Bread, with many other Festival yummy foods to be enjoyed!
Camping and Lodging options for the Native Nations Festival include Watson Homestead Conference & Retreat Center Campsites and Cabins. Many other local Hotels, Motels, B&Bs and Campgrounds are available within surrounding areas. Make your reservations early to attend and enjoy this wonderful event.
