Meet the Media – April Workshops
Four session Workshops by Ontario County Arts Council artists
 
6:00-8:00 pm,  April 4, April 11, April 18, April 25
St. John’s Episcopal Church, 
183 N. Main, Canandaigua (rear entrance on St. John’s Court, Gleaner’s Kitchen entrance) 
 
All Workshops $25 each or take all 4 for $85. Fee includes all materials
There is a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 12.
No prior experience necessary.
 
Basic Origami
Instructor: Carol Henshaw
April 4
Origami is the ancient art of folding paper. Learn several basic folds to make a rabbit and a bird for spring. 
Rubber Stamp Carving
Instructor: Judi Cermak 
April 11
Participants will carve a small rubber stamp of their own design and print wrapping paper. Note: sharp tools will be used for carving. Inks and paints are permanent.
 
Soap Carving for beginners
Instructor: Harry Patrick
April 18
Using simple tools, plastic knives and spoons, carve a simple 3-D shape from bars of Ivory soap. Soap, plastic tools and a handout will be provided. If you have clay shaping tools, you may bring them. An apron to help catch the soap shavings would be helpful.
Needle Felting
Instructor: Tina Blackwood, Judi Cermak

April 25

Using barbed needles and wool, participants will learn the art of needle-felting to create a 2D “painting”.  Learn to create a picture with a design of your choice or use a preprinted design. Learn how to use barbed needles and dyed wool fibers to create your image. As the needles are very sharp, workshops are limited to people 12 years old or older.
