When considering ways to address justice issues such as race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and more, feeling unprepared on the fundamentals may lead to a hesitance to act.  In this new ongoing program, we will use expert guidance in an effort to raise our understanding so that we can participate with confidence in such important work.  This session, we engage with the concept of the poverty of opportunity – a concept that gives lie to the common claim that individuals can improve their outcomes simply by “changing their behavior” or “pulling themselves up by their bootstraps.”  You are welcome to attend as many or as few of these events as you wish, but you will gain the most from consistent attendance.  To register for this online program, please visit https://bit.ly/pyequity.  Hosted by Penn Yan Public Library.  Contact: info@pypl.org
