Inspiration: The Music of Nature
Nineteen years ago, then-director, John Weeks, had the brilliant idea of celebrating spring and nature with an Inspiration Festival of Art and Nature. And it’s still a brilliant idea.
On Sunday, June 7th the Sterling Nature will host this year’s version of the festival from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The 2015 festival has a decidedly local flavor with some past favorites returning.
Headlining our music will be Dan Duggan and Peggy Lynn. Duggan, who has pioneered the renewed interest in traditional dulcimer music, has released four solo albums, and collaborated with Susquehanna String Band and Paul Simon. Lynn, called the “First Lady” of Adirondack music, is also an accomplished singer-songwriter with numerous albums to her credit and has been featured at the Bluebird Café in Nashville. Joining them will be last year’s crowd favorites, The Tug Hill Players, who bring an eclectic song list to the stage along with instruments too abundant to count, including the bouzouki, xylophone and the djembe to mention a few. The musical selection also includes singer songwriter Robert Early.
The afternoon will include a children’s tent featuring Connie Evans, author of “Charlotte’s Big Dream,” and “Sawyer’s Promise.” Connie will do readings and bring her inspiration for the stories, Charlotte, the pit bull and Sawyer, the yellow lab. Inspiration will offer a bake sale, a silent auction, an art show, a selection of artisan vendors, and our famous barbeque beef sandwiches.
Come out and help us celebrate The Music of Nature.
