The Dryden Town Historical Society is pleased to announce the return of Homestead Heritage Fair Day on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 10 AM until 3 PM on the grounds of the Southworth Homestead, 14 North Street (Rt. 13) in Dryden.

This year’s event will feature a visit with birds of prey from the Cornell Raptor Program (11 AM to 1 PM) and demonstrations from the Ithaca Dog Training Club (11 AM – 12 AM – 1 PM and 2 PM).  Toe-tapping music will be provided by Erin & the Backwoods Blues Project (10 AM to 12 PM) Jim Hull (12 PM to 1 PM) and Max & the Kats (1 PM to 3 PM).

Great food will be available for purchase from the Village Taqueria & Grill, Smash Me 607 Food Truck and ice cream from Meg-a-Moo’s.

There will be heritage craft demonstrations of spinning wool, chair caning and creating a Three Sisters Garden.  There will be a quilt display featuring historic local quilts and the opportunity to watch a blacksmith at his forge.  The kids will enjoy have their faces painted, watching Sir James create balloon art, making corn husk dolls, coloring and visiting with “Achoo” the camel.

You will meet talented local artisans working in clay and wood and perhaps purchase something special:  Common Bowl Pottery, Woodworx, and Mt. Pleasant Woodworks. We will also feature exhibits from: The Honey Factory, Snow Farm Creamery, The Time Smith (antique and vintage time pieces), Thimble Therapy (quilts), Black Sheep Spinners Guild, and Historic Ithaca – plus tours of the historic Southworth House.

Admission to the Fair is free and everyone is invited to join the fun.

This event is made possible in part by a grant from Tompkins County Tourism.
