2019 HOMESTEAD HERITAGE FAIR DAY
The Dryden Town Historical Society will host the 7th annual Homestead Heritage Fair Day on Saturday, October 5th, 2019 from 10 AM until 3 PM on the grounds of the Southworth Homestead, 14 North Street (Rt. 13) in Dryden.
This year’s event will feature a visit with birds of prey from the Cornell Raptor Program, heritage craft demonstrations of sheep shearing, spinning wool and flax, chair caning, heritage cooking and soap making. There will be a quilt display, quilting demonstrations, and the opportunity to watch a blacksmith at his forge. Toe-tapping music will be provided by the Cortland Old Timers Band and The Back Pages.
Kids will enjoy the 4-H animal exhibits, playing with vintage toys, and participating in lively old-time games.
Great food can be purchased from the Dryden Community Center Café, ice cream from Meg-a-Moo’s, and sweet treats from the Honey Factory.
You will meet talented local artisans working in clay and wood and perhaps purchase something special: Maryhill Clayworks (pottery), Woodworx (custom furniture and woodcrafts), and Prentiss Woodworks (handmade paddles).
Tours of the historic Southworth House (the only historic house museum in Tompkins County!) will be available at 11 AM, 12 PM, 1 PM and 2 PM for a $10 donation (DTHS members, seniors, and students $8).
Admission to the Fair is free and everyone is invited to join the fun. For more information, contact: Mary Hornbuckle (898-3461)
