Presentation:  How did the Civil War impact our towns and villages?  Find out where the names of your streets came from. Who were the brave young soldiers from our area who left their homes to fight for our freedoms?  Tom Bower and Jim Black will share their knowledge of what a soldiers life was like  during the Civil War. When the war was raging on how did this area fare?   Tom has been a fighting reenactor for 45 years with two local reenactment units the 64th New York and the 34th North Carolina. He also helped establish a summer camp for students at the School of the Soldier at the Genesee Country Village. He is an author, and historian and long time resident of  town of Chili. Jim is a member of the Confederate dismounted cavalry who has an unique perspective on the “horse” side of of things. He’ll share all the how’s and why ‘s and when’s the cavalry units were used.
