The 1816 Farmington Quaker Meetinghouse Museum presents . . .

Our next program – Meet a very special woman: Abby Kelley Foster!

Join us on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the Granger Homestead when we will travel back in time to meet a very special woman. Abby Kelley Foster was one of America’s most celebrated public figures before the Civil War. She spoke all across the country, including in upstate New York—from Utica to Seneca Falls, Waterloo, Williamson, Rochester, and elsewhere. Abby Kelley Foster transformed her audiences with her radical message of abolitionism and woman’s rights. Thanks to her, upstate New York and many other places became hotbeds of anti-slavery and birthplaces of the women’s rights movement.

Actress Lynne McKenney Lydick will help us welcome Abby Kelley Foster with her first-person re-enactment entitled “Yours for Humanity, Abby.” Lydick is nationally known for her riveting evocation of Abby. She will take on Abby’s persona and speak the very words that Abby herself spoke. Come and be part of Abby’s audience. Experience for yourself the power of Abby’s message. Savor the thoughtful conversation that follows. This is a program you will not want to miss!

All programs are free, with grateful thanks to Humanities New York for their support.

Where: Granger Homestead, 295 North Main Street, Canandaigua
When: Sunday, July 17, 2022, 2:00 p.m.
