Join award-winning Plein Air artist Kari Ganoung Ruiz for an autumn workshop hosted by the Inns of Aurora in the heart of the Finger Lakes. You’ll spend the day painting with expert guidance surrounded by natural beauty.
Devoted beginners will build confidence in oil painting with Kari’s gracious guidance while intermediate and advanced students will learn new techniques to refine their approach.
Kari is known for her unique way of capturing light in her plein air paintings. Her personalized instruction will assist students in choosing a scene and achieving a feeling of light in their own work. Recent awards include 2018 Quick Draw winner at Lighthouse Plein Air Festival in Tequesta Florida, Best Architectural Scene 2017 Mountain Maryland Plein Air Festival, 2017 Grand Prize winner of the Finger Lakes Plein Air Festival in Canandaigua NY. Artwork held in public and private collections across the U.S.
There are two options to participate. Both include a full-day of instruction with lunch and dinner included. The overnight option consists of a special room rate at Wallcourt Hall, a unique nocturne painting session, and morning coffee with Kari. Room upgrades are available. Space is limited to 12 painters.
A materials list and detailed schedule will be emailed to participants upon registration. Kari recommends you gather the items you’ll need well before the workshop and that you get comfortable with your supplies ahead of time. Dress in layered clothing and comfortable shoes and be ready to head outside!
