Our Book to Film series continues with a showing of the 1935 version of David Copperfield. This Best Picture nominee adapts Charles Dickens’ 1849 tale of an English orphan’s adventurous life and the colorful characters he meets along the way as he comes of age, becomes a successful novelist and ultimately finds the true love of his life. Two actors portray the title character, Freddie Bartholomew as the impoverished youth and Frank Lawton as the grown-up author. A short discussion will follow for those who would like to discuss similarities and differences between the novel and the movie. Popcorn will be provided.
