A Different Path Gallery

A tale of two sisters; a papermaker and a quilter, paper and fabric, an expression of nature in art. Paper, Fabric and Sisters is an exhibit about two sisters who have both encouraged and influenced each other to become women who express their beliefs, interpretations’ of life and nature through art. Both became artists and their individuality, but also influence, is evident in their work.

Julie Lambert has been a papermaker for over 25 years after a printmaking professor introduced her to the medium. Her early pieces were abstract designs, but wildlife and landscapes became her passion. Her complex pieces are formed from hand dyed paper pulp, using color, design and collages to create visually stunning works of art.

Laura Richardson loves to sew. The self-taught seamstress, has been creating and designing quilts and purses, among other projects, for over 25 years. Her sewing room is filled with fabrics that inspire her to create intricate designs in patterns that demonstrate her clear understanding of the influence of color, shape and lines. Each quilt is an expression of the beauty, humor and joy of life that she shows the world through fabric and thread.

There will also be live music at the show opening on Nov. 10th! Bill Lambert will be playing the acoustic guitar… truly a family affair!

The Opening reception for this exhibit will be held on Friday, Nov. 10th from 7 pm – 9 pm and the artwork will remain on display until Nov. 30th.

You can view the exhibit Tuesdays through Saturdays from 12 pm to 4 pm by entering through the Lightways Community Shop at 31 Market Street.
